Date: 1900s Photographer: Oscar A. Zumwalt
The Court Oak on Travis Street in Columbus, c. 1905, photographed from near the corner of Spring and Travis. This image is taken from a postcard with the inscription "First Court Colorado County Republic of Texas 1837."  The handwritten message reads "Look at me in that tree" but the back of the card is signed simply "Elmer." There are two men seated in the tree; the figures on the street are horses. A colorized version of this image is also in the possession of the library.
