Columbus City Water Tower, built in 1883 on the northeast corner of Spring and Milam Streets, on the courthouse square in Columbus. Several attempts to demolish it since have been futile. The courthouse is visible in the background. The photograph is one of a set of twenty made in Columbus in 1884 and sent for exhibit to the New Orleans World Exposition. The Colorado Citizen of December 4, 1884 refers to the photograph as "Waterworks Tower"
